Chapter 10
In the dressing room, Miles at on the comfy couch and eyed the outfit that Farley was parading around in. “What do you think, Miles?” the blonde asked, turning around in front of the full-length mirror.
“I think that if you go on-air dressed like that, I am breaking up with you,” Miles said flatly.
Farley’s face fell. “But Miles!” he cried, “It’s so cute!”
“No,” Miles replied. “I don’t mind you wearing costumes, but this is too much. Take it off.”
Farley stuck out his lower lip a bit, but reluctantly began to take off the costume. He had to concede(albeit only in his head) that the costume was pretty racy. It mostly consisted of scarves strategically sewn together in a few places, leaving very little of him covered up. He grinned to himself in the mirror where Miles couldn’t see him. His blue eyes sparkled as he vowed to wear this particular costume again - but only in private, where he could use it to tease and titillate Miles. Maybe he’d do a little harem girl dance while wearing it, something sexy and seductive. While he might not get John the Baptist’s head on a platter, he was sure to get a very nice reward for his dancing…
He pulled off the scarf costume and put on a more demure meter maid outfit instead. “How about this?” he asked, turning to look at Miles.
“That’s fine.” Mile replied. “But you should probably shave your legs if you’re going to wear that.”
Farley looked down and meeped in dismay when he saw that he had stubbly legs. “Oopsie! I’ll just go and shave them in the bathroom. I’ll see you out in the studio, Miles,” he called as he dashed into the bathroom to attend to his legs.
Miles got up and left, grateful not to have to judge any more costumes for Farley. While he was learning to accept his lover’s propensity for wearing them, that didn’t mean that he was a big fan of them. Especially not that one made of scarves. It was a good thing that he’d never be seeing that one again!
Safe in his naïve belief that he’d never have to look at the costume made of scarves again, Miles went into the studio to read over his press releases before they went on the air. Damien casually greeted him, and he returned it. Their working relationship had become much more cordial now that Miles wasn’t jealous of Damien being around Farley anymore, especially since it had been Damien who’d gotten them together in the first place. If he hadn’t told Miles that he wasn’t dating Farley, and that the weatherman was still hung up on him, who knew how long it might have taken him to find out that Farley was still interested in him?
Farley skipped in a bit later in his meter maid costume, his freshly shaved legs gleaming under the hot lights. He blew Miles an air kiss before he darted away to get his weather board ready for the broadcast. He hummed to himself as he changed the digital display settings, looking the perfect picture of a man who was totally contented with himself and the world.
Miles glanced up at him briefly, but then returned to his reading. His brain wasn’t working very well this morning, and he knew exactly who to blame. The blonde leaning over the weatherboard, flaunting his ass in that tight meter maid’s skirt for all the world to see. Miles tried not to grit his teeth, but it wasn’t easy. He’d discovered(much to his chagrin) that he was a far more jealous person than he ever would have expected. If he could have had his way, Farley would be wearing only one costume, and one costume only - a bhurka! Ah, well. Maybe in a perfect world…
Farley straightened up and bounced over to Miles’ desk. “Is there lots of bad news today, Miles?” he asked as he perched on the edge of the newscaster’s desk.
“Of course. There’s always plenty of bad news,” Miles replied dryly.
“Although I think that there’s less than people assume that there is, since all we tend to report on is the bad news.”
Farley nodded. “Yeah. I wish you could do some feel-good news once in awhile. It would be a nice change of pace.”
“They should put you in charge of that news, Farley,” he replied. “You’d be better at reporting happy stories than I would.”
Farley giggled. “I suppose so. Maybe we’ll ask them if I should do a ‘good news’ segment after my weather report every day. I wouldn’t mind - giving good news is awesome!”
He beamed, looking very enthusiastic about this thought. Miles smiled slightly. “Talk to the director about it,” he remarked.
“I think I will. Uh oh, looks like it’s about time! I’ve gotta get back,” Farley moved away toward his weather board, as Miles turned his attention to the camera and prepared himself to do his news report.
Farley smiled cheerfully out at the audience and waved. “Hey, everybody! Hope you’re all having a great day today! Spring is officially here, the time when a young man’s fancy lightly turns to thoughts of…love…” he said, pausing as though he’d meant to say something else. He laughed and glanced over at Miles, who maintained a straight face. “I’m in a great mood today, because a certain incredibly sexy person kept me up all night last night! I won’t say who it was, just that he’s hotter than Arizona in August and that he does a mean news report too! Anyway, turning to the weather…”
Miles sighed but accepted this outburst. At least now when Farley said such things, they weren’t outright lies or innuendo. That was a nice change of pace. Although he suspected that he’d be hearing from his mother any day now because of this…
